If you have not heard the name JP Bouvet over the last couple years, you must have been living under a rock. This 21 year old drumming prodigy has accomplished more in his drumming career over the past few years than most of us could ever dream of. He really drew himself into the public eye in 2011 when he won the Guitar Center Drum Off and the Roland V-Drum Competition within a couple months of each other.

JP grew up in the suburbs in Minnesota, fervently playing drums in several jazz, big band, progressive rock, and fusion groups until he left for Boston to attend Berklee College of Music for two years.

Now living in New York City, he is the driving force behind several projects including Drum and Bass super-duo, Drew and JP; Female-fronted progressive rock band, Helicopria; and epic piano/synth-driven quartet, Dave Mackay Group. In January, 2013, he launched his website, www.jpbouvetmusic.com. It is growing quickly in popularity. The website is a video hub for inspiration and education. Members get to follow JP's rapidly developing career very closely as he documents and reflects on many of the exciting opportunities he encounters. The site also contains, lessons, how-to's, interviews, and his personal blog.

In April, 2013, JP Bouvet will be teaming up with fellow Meinl Cymbals artists, Mike Johnston (mikeslessons.com) and Matt Halpern (drummer for Periphery) for the first leg of the Common Thread Clinic Tour. This initial leg of the tour will take place in several New England locations (see www.facebook.com/jpbouvetmusic for details).

Between clinics, performances, and running jpbouvetmusic.com, JP is happily working hard every day to better himself and inspire those he comes in contact with. If you are less familiar with him, a YouTube search will undoubtedly lead you to a better understanding of what JP stands for, and how he sounds behind the kit.

JP endorses Ahead Armor Cases, Meinl Cymbals, DW Drums, Remo, and Vic Firth and is "... the most stoked person in the world to be working with all these freakin' amazing, passionate people. I love them like uncles, aunts, and cousins." Lewis, among others.
